How is the Lord Calling You?

At First Baptist Church we encourage you to use the gifts and skills with which God has blessed you to glorify Him.

What do you like to do?  What are you good at? What would you like to learn, or learn to do better?  How can you serve? These are all questions we would like to help you answer.

Here are a few opportunities for you to consider:

Music Ministry

We are always looking for soloists or people who want to sing in the choir or chorale, or for those who play instruments.  Our Music Director, Marie Hall, will gladly help you to use or develop your talent.  Just ask!

Maintenance

Are you Mr or Ms. Fix-it?  We have a place for you; perhaps as a painter, plumber, carpenter or electrician.

Our work parties are fun and they enable us to keep our buildings and grounds in tip-top condition, all for God’s glory.

Children's Ministry Sunday School

Our Sunday school is growing and we are always in need of teachers, as well as Nursery helpers.  We like to team teach, meaning you don’t have to do it every week, but only once a month, allowing you ample time to remain in worship.  Our Sunday school Superintendent, will be glad to speak with you about team teaching and nursery help.

Sunday School will be ending for the summer on June 18.  A summer fun program called Kidz’ Korral led by Kara Gordon will begin at 10:00 am each Sunday service.  It will be located in a safe, fenced-in area behind the Sanctuary.

The time will include singing, games and just plain fun!  Plan to bring the little ones as we know they will have a blast!

Youth Ministry

We are seeking someone who can help assist, develop, and maintain a youth ministry among the older kids, those from 13 and up through high school.  If we had an inspired adult, we would have the children. See the Pastor if this might interest you.

Women's and Men's Ministries

Ladies Circle:  our Ladies Circle is a vibrant group that helps the church in many ways.  The ladies can always be counted upon to provide a luncheon following a funeral service; they host a Christmas Fair in the late Fall.

The Ladies enjoy going out to eat and do so monthly, in addition to their business meeting—it’s a fun and engaging group.

Men’s Fellowship:  Our Men’s group, F.M.O. (For Men Only) meets monthly for breakfast and fellowship beginning at 8:30 am.  There is no charge for the great meal supplied at these meetings but, but donations are greatly accepted and appreciated.

Some of the guys also participate in ongoing work projects inside and outside the church building.

The Men’s Fellowship prepares and serves our Annual Community Breakfast following the Easter sunrise service.

Mission Projects

We support the ministry and mission of Sentinel Baptist Camp. We have sent kids, counselors and staff to camp over the entire life of the camp, since 1949.

Additionally, we support missions through the American Baptist Churches U.S.A, with many ways to become involved locally, nationally and globally if it is your calling.

In 2019 we began to support WSEW 88.7 Word Radio, a Christian radio station that serves our area.

Further, we support Mark and Mary Swinerton, Missionaries to Australia.

And we are always seeking people with fresh ideas as to how to reach out to the community, to make Jesus better known.

Other Opportunities

On the other hand, perhaps your desire is to develop a group around your own hobby or passion.. We are open to that as well.  Want to form a knitting club or a golf team? We are excited to hear your ideas!

At First Baptist Church we encourage people to expand their horizons and share their interests, not simply for themselves, but for those around them.  Give us a try and see how we can grow and glorify God together!
