Yesterday I read an article about an entrepreneur who had just started a new business, on the heels or her successful twenty-year old company. During the interview she continually praised herself: “I did this” and “I did that” and “I worked hard”, etc. but never once gave credit to God, who created her, sustained during hard times and ultimately blessed her with success. Her trust is in herself alone and, in the long run, it isn’t enough. Proverbs 3:5 teaches us to “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.” True success, success that endures forever, is a gift from the Lord, not the product of our own effort.
