One of the most precious gifts given to us is the gift of Free Will, the ability to go our own way and do our own thing.
Consider this, from Psalm 107: 11-13: “They had rebelled against the words of God and despised the counsel of the Most High. So He subjected them to bitter labor; they stumbled and there was no one to help. Then they cried to the Lord in their trouble and He saved them from their distress.”
Ouch! That’s what happens when you have Free Will, but exercise it poorly. Sure, you can do your own thing, but without God’s guidance you run the risk of abject failure and distress.
How much better it is to accept God’s wise counsel for your life and follow His way, not the road that leads to destruction.
Ultimately, as you read in this Psalm, when we turn to Him He comes to our rescue.
If you are struggling today, may God bless you with open eyes and a heart that is warming to His great love for you. Pastor Jim.
