I am always astounded by people who don’t sing during worship.
I don’t know why, because the words and music are right before them, and most hymns and contemporary worship songs are pretty easy to follow.
Yet sometimes people just won’t sing.
I sing because my heart is full of the joy that I feel because I know of God’s love for me. And God has blessed me with a decent voice, in order to proclaim His glory through singing.
It is not the other way around: I do not sing because I have a good voice–I have a good voice because God has prompted me to sing.. I sing to proclaim His greatness.
Ephesians 5:19b says it so clearly: “Sing and music in your heart to the Lord.”
Keep that in mind this Sunday and let God’s mercy to you carry your voice to new heights. Don’t be afraid to lift your voice in praise of Him; He has already given you the melody and it will be beautiful. Just try. Pastor Jim.
