Walking on a treadmill must be about the most boring way to exercise.
Let’s face it, on a treadmill you walk and walk but never get anywhere. Even the newer ones, equipped with a video screen that takes you on a “virtual tour” of mountains or other scenic vistas, cannot hide the fact that you are just walking, walking, walking to nowhere.
It’s like trying to work your way into heaven. It doesn’t matter what you do, how well you do it or how often, doing good work for God will not save your soul. Nope. It’s just like being on a treadmill.
In Paul’s brief book to Titus (Titus 3:4) he says, “But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of His mercy.”
That’s the good news. We cannot save ourselves, no matter how hard we try, but God, through Christ, redeems us and makes us fit for Heaven.
It is His free gift to us. Aren’t you glad that you can claim it for yourself? Pastor Jim.
