One of the great gifts that we receive when we come to Christ is the gift of free will, the opportunity to choose how we will act and behave as we make our way through life.

When you accept Christ as Savior, that conscious act should lead you to change: as Christ was kind, forgiving and loving, we try our best to live as He lived.

In some cases though, that doesn’t happen. Some people don’t change. They live as they did before they met Jesus; they accept the light of His mercy, then turn and continue to walk in the darkness.

It makes you wonder if those poor souls have really been saved at all.

In I Peter 2: 1 the author spoke to some believers who hadn’t changed, reminding them, “Rid yourselves of all malice and all deceit, hypocrisy, envy and slander of every kind.”

Accepting Jesus should bring change, so put away that old nature, that tendency to do and think as you once did, and live the new life that is yours through Christ. Then you will know true blessing in these present days. Pastor Jim.
