This morning we focus on the familiar Advent hymn, Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus.
Verse 1 says: “Come, Thou long expected Jesus, born to set Thy people free. From our fears and sins release us; let us find our rest in Thee.”
What is it that YOU fear? Is it job loss and the subsequent loss of income? Do you fear a broken relationship? Or being alone? Do you fear debilitating illness and the inability to care for yourself? Do you fear death?
Each of these fears becomes a sin, because by believing these fears you allow fear to trump your trust in God.
Jesus came to release us from fear; to set us free. We can have no real rest, no spiritual comfort, until we trust Him in all things, so please, come, Thou long expected Jesus and make us free. Pastor Jim.
