It’s been a few weeks since I planted my tomatoes. When I checked on them I was disappointed.

They were scraggly, and wilted. None of them–not one–appeared to be thriving.

I wondered why. We’ve had ample rain and while sunny days have been few, when the sun has been shining it has been very strong. Something was missing.

Then it dawned on me: my plants need fertilizer; food to make them grow. Sunlight and water are necessary, but so is food.

That’s just like our spiritual lives. You can sit at home and read your Bible, even several chapters each day. You can bow and pray, then pray some more.

Your spiritual life will be okay. Not great, but okay, because something is missing? What is it?

Worship. Unless you attend worship regularly your spiritual life will become as stunted as the tomatoes in my garden.

The Psalmist (95:6) said it best: “Come, let us bow down in worship, let us kneel before the Lord our Maker; for He is our God and we are the people of His pasture, the flock under His care.”

That says it all, except this: I look forward to seeing you this morning at 10:00 am. Pastor Jim.
