Way back in the 1950’s a common saying was “the family that prays together, stays together.” It was a glib bit of wisdom designed to bring families into churches and keep them there.

It’s too bad more people didn’t listen. The rise of the Sixties counter-culture can be attributed, in some measure, to the emptying out of churches during the 1950’s, as people rejected “traditional values” in favor of new, and sometimes radical, ideas concerning faith, God and worship.

Now we find ourselves well into a new century and society has deteriorated even further. Divorce and the resulting single parent households make for a difficult lifestyle for many, and children suffer the most from being pushed and pulled between parents, with no real anchor in life.

A good, solid church can provide that anchor for families. There is no greater time for the family to “pray together/stay together” than now.

Psalm 122:1 says “I rejoiced with those who said to me, ‘Let us go to the house of the Lord.'”

Bring new strength to your family today by worshiping together. Find a welcoming church; give your heart and mind to God. He surely will bless you and your family. Pastor Jim.
