I want to tell you about my friend Steve. Steve’s a good guy: hardworking, good husband and father, but something was missing from his life. Although he and his wife had always been churchgoers, something was missing, so about three years ago they began to worship at a different church and that opened up a whole new world for Steve. At his new church Steve encountered the Holy Spirit, the Counselor and Comforter promised by Christ, and his life hasn’t been the same since. He still has the same job, but he’s more at peace with it. Same wife, but he’s more in love with her than ever. Same kids, but he’s an even better Dad than before. Steve’s in Alaska right now, on a mission trip with this church and from the pictures I saw yesterday, is having the time of his life. God can do tremendous things in the lives of those who say “yes” to Him. Psalm 32:19 reminds us that, “Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord’s unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in Him.” I am humbled to have this man as my friend and am blessed just to know him.
