Hebrews 4:2: “For we also have had the gospel preached to us, just as they did; but the message they heard was of no value to them, because those who heard did not combine it with faith.”

How true! Some people don’t want to hear the truth. Their standard answer is “whatever.” That’s the ultimate, “I don’t care,” kind of statement.

So, while they may listen, they don’t hear because they don’t want to hear, not until some life event, like sudden illness or the death of a loved one, makes them sit up and take notice.

Even then some people still have little or no faith because it has never been important to them and “whatever” turns to a resigned, empty “oh well.”

How sad.

Still, that is no reason to give up. Don’t stop sharing your faith with your non-listening friend, and don’t stop praying for them either.

Your responsibility is to remain faithful; the result is in the hands of the Holy Spirit. Pastor Jim.
