Today we live in a politically correct society; everyone has to watch what they say, so as not to offend anyone else.

Sometimes trying to express oneself is like walking across a floor strewn with broken glass, especially when there are people out there just waiting, and hoping, that you might say something wrong so they can be offended.

I don’t advocate people being unkind to one another, but it’s wise to take a deep breath and think a moment before responding to the person who just made that awkward, foolish and, possibly, offensive statement.

Did they REALLY mean to insult you, or did they just speak poorly? Proverbs 15: 1 teaches that “a gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Think carefully before responding. After all, next time you might be the one who misspeaks.

Have a blessed day. Pastor Jim.
