Hark! The Herald Angels Sing is more than just a song; it is an inspiring, triumphant anthem that declares the reason that Jesus came to earth as a man:
We all make mistakes in life; some errors so grievous that we think we can never recover. And we all face the prospect of death–the end of all that we know. But….
Verse 3: “Light and life to all He brings, risen with healing in His wings. Mild He lays His glory by, born that men no more may die; born to raise the sons of earth, born to give them second birth.”
In the birth of Jesus there is light to help us find our way through the dark times of our lives. Jesus brings healing when we acknowledge our failures and mistakes. Greatest of all, though, Jesus brings us new opportunity.
In Christ we have the promise of a second chance, and a third. Nothing you have done can separate you from the love of God if you do no want it to; that is the forgiveness spoken of in “born to give them second birth.”
And, in His promise to raise the “sons of earth” we are promised resurrection at the last day.
