“Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims and their families…” How many times have you heard those words spoken by some politician or other following a recent tragedy. The cynic in me, though, wonders just how true those words are, or if “our thoughts and prayers” has become just another catchphrase used because it is the “right” thing to say. How about this instead, from II Chronicles 7:14: “If my people ,who are called by my Name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” That’s not empty talk, like “our thoughts and prayers”; it is God’s powerful promise. You want to solve the problems our society faces? Read this Scripture slowly and carefully, then follow its advice. If we ALL did so God will bring healing. That is His promise.
