For the most part I like Facebook. It’s a great place to post pictures, announcements and tidbits of personal or family news..

One thing you rarely see on Facebook: gossip. You don’t find gossip because on Facebook you have to put your name on your post and people who gossip tend to stir the pot anonymously and behind the scenes.

We all know how harmful gossip can be, but it can only exist and flourish if we keep it going. In Proverbs 26:20 we are taught that, “without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.”

The next time you are tempted to pass on “information” of a dubious nature, think about this proverb. Do you want to be the one that keeps a rumor going, or are you happy to let it die on your doorstep? Pastor Jim.
