I had a nice telephone visit with an old friend last evening, someone I hadn’t spoken to in a few years. He related how his wife had recently been diagnosed, treated and cleansed of cancer in two different places, ending the story by telling me that they “feel really lucky right now.” When I asked what they intended to do to honor God for His blessing he didn’t answer, sticking to his “lucky” theory. Friends, I have no Scripture verse for you this morning, because the word “lucky” does not appear in the Bible, not even once. However, the word “blessed” does, many times.
