Philemon v. 7: “Your love has given me great joy and encouragement because you, brother, have refreshed the hearts of the saints.”
Has someone ministered to you? I mean, really offered you the encouragement and prayer support that a good mentor can provide?
Have you thanked that person for standing with you and guiding you during the rough spots in your life?
Good mentors are not easy to find, but once we find one it is important that we thank them for their hard work on our behalf.
It is our thanking them that fuels their soul, enabling them to go on and mentor others. Meanwhile, as we ourselves grow in grace, we can, in turn, become mentors for others: new believers who are just beginning their own journey with the Lord.
This is how our circle of faith enlarges and grows. Take a moment today to pray for that person who has been an encouragement for you. Better still, let him/her know in person.
What an encouragement you can be for someone else today, and it will cost you nothing more than a few moments of your time. Pastor Jim.
