Some people wear a locket, with a picture of a loved one inside. A newer trend is for folks to carry the ashes of a deceased loved one in a capsule worn around their neck.

Look, though, at what the writer of Proverbs (3:3-4) suggests: “Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart. Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.”

Wearing love and faithfulness around your neck, meaning to demonstrate God’s love to the world, can make a difference in the lives of people around you.

When you are kind, people recognize that and, hopefully, appreciate your kindness. When you demonstrate love, people will turn to you, not away, and when you are faithful in what you do, God will bless your faithfulness.

You may not wear a physical necklace in anyone’s memory, but you can remember and celebrate God’s love for you by how you present yourself to the world.

May God bless you as you do so. Pastor Jim.
