Oh my, Friday the 13th. It conjures up images of black cats, cracks in the sidewalk and other superstitious foolishness.
Really, do you believe in luck? Is your faith so weak that you believe in random events having control over your life?
I purged the word “luck” from my vocabulary years ago. There is no such thing if you believe in God and in His will, purpose and mercy for your life. God will never abandon anyone to “chance”, but He has a plan for each of us. He watches over our lives every moment of every day.
Even in his misery Job recognized the sovereignty of God when he declared (Job 10:12), “You gave me life and showed me kindness, and in your providence watched over my spirit.”
As you make your way through this Friday the 13th, do so with full confidence that God is watching over you and that you do not need a four leaf clover to make things right today. God will bless you, so trust in Him alone. Pastor Jim.
