Jealousy causes more division in a church than any debate regarding a congregation’s theology.

People are far more willing to acknowledge the beliefs of others than they are to offer support and encouragement when they do good works.

Jealousy has destroyed many a congregation.

This should not be. In fact, it should be quite the opposite. Really, who cares who gets the credit as long as the work is done and God is glorified?

In I Thessalonians I:3 Paul says, “We continually remember before our God and Father your work produced by faith, your labor prompted by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Our focus should be to lift one another up in prayer, not to worry about who did what. Keep that in mind the next time you are tempted to say, “he does things to make himself look good.” or “She did it, but I could have done it better,” or “I wouldn’t have done it that way.”

These are all expressions that tear down; instead pray for one another, to build up. Pastor Jim.
