The greatest fear for some is to be left alone in life.

As we age couples often debate, “Which of us will go first?’ and “What will happen if I am left behind?”

Some couples are so close to one another they cannot imagine the possibility of living without the other.

It may be good to think about these things, but not to be consumed by them–loss IS inevitable. At some point, each of WILL face death, either our own or that of our loved one.

But we need not fear. Rather, we can embrace one of God’s greatest promises, stated in Deuteronomy 31:6b, when Moses spoke God’s word, saying “the Lord your God goes with you, He will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Yes, your spouse may indeed precede you in death. You may find yourself alone, but if you trust in God He will keep His promise. He will not leave you nor will He forsake you.

He is with you even now; He promises to remain with you always, so trust Him and trust His Son. Pastor Jim.
